Simple DIY Lip Balm Tubes

Ingredients:

  • a glass dropper, a syringe, or disposable pipette
  • 5 drops pure vitamin E oil
  • 1 part beeswax, or emulsifying wax pellets (ex-1 tablespoon)
  • 2 Parts coconut oil (ex- 2 tablespoons)
  • 2 Parts cocoa butter, mango butter, and /or shea butter (ex – 2 tablespoons) You can use any combination as long as it remains 2 parts, etc...
  • 20 drops of any Essential oil or oil blend I like Frankincense w/ Citrus Fresh or spearmint- Yum!
  • Duck Tape (optional) for decorating your tubes

Instructions:

  1. Place all ingredients in a double boiler until just melted. When everything has melted, turn off the heat, and leave the glass jar in the boiler so it remains in liquid form while adding to your tubes.
  2. Place the empty tubes upright in a small box or container and use a glass dropper, syringe, or pipette to fill the tubes easily.
  3. Allow to cool undisturbed for several hours- I Put them in fridge to solidify quicker. You may need to keep them in the fridge during the hot summer months.
  4. This recipe makes a medium/firm lip balm. For a firmer balm add more Beeswax.
  5. Decorate tubes with Colorful Duck Tape. The length is a perfect fit for standard size Duck Tape.
  • This mixture can last up to a year if stored in a cool dry space.
  • Recipe above yields 10-15 tubes of lip balm depending on the size of the tubes.
